- Jamie you were first part of the electro group Faithless to leave it in 1999 and collaborate with Duncan Bidgeman to make world music. Electronic music, world music... Are they additional?
NO, I HAD TO LEAVE FAITHLESS – ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO TWO AT ONCE.
- How was born the idea of 1 Giant Leap?
WE WERE DISSATISFIED WITH USUAL FUSION MUSIC AND WANTED TO MAKE SOMETHING WE LOVED
- What was the most difficult in the realization of this project?
TRUSTING THAT EVEN THOUGH WE HAD NO IDEA HOW IT WOULD BE AT THE END, THAT IT WAS GREAT!
- All the invited artists have been enthusiastic since the beginning or was it necessary to insist with some of them?
IF THEY WERE DIFFICULT WE BACKED OFF – BUT SOME OF THE INTERVIEWS, KURT VONNEGUT, TOM ROBBINS, WE HAD TO CHASE THEM FOREVER!
- I've read something about a continuation of this project in
ffice:smarttags" />South America. What's about this news?
WE ARE IN PREPRODUCTION FOR THE NEXT FILM/ALBUM ‘2SIDES2EVERYTHING’ AND IT TAKES US THROUGH
ARGENTINA, PERU, ECUADOR, BRASIL, COLOMBIA, CHILE AND MEXICO, AND MANY OTHERS!
- During your trip you have met very different persons. Have those meetings changed your thoughts, your vision of the world, the way you live?
ONLY THE MAORI PEOPLE IN
NEW ZEALAND, AMAZING

As fan of Manu Chao and 1GL, I can't resist to put this pic of Jamie with Manu and Duncan in Glastonbury in June 2002
- What ethnic group impressed you the most and why?
THE MAORIS ARE GROWING IN NUMBERS, THEY ARE STRONG, SOFT, WISE, PASSIONATE, DEEP
- Do you think that some societies ?
UK for example ? are most open to listen and accept world or tribal music than others?
THE MORE MIXED CULTURE IS IN THE CITY SO THE MORE THEY ACCEPT IT.
- Indians from
Chiapas, Tibetan people and so many others minorities are oppressed in the world. Do you think that a project as 1GL can help them and how?
ITS IMPORTANT THE FOCUS OF THE PROJECT IS WISDOM AND MUSIC SO THE EXPOSURE OF THESE WISE PEOPLE IS GOOD – BUT THE MAIN FOCUS IS NOT THIS -
- Time is to globalization, but don't you think that cultural diversity can help the world and develop it in a better way?
YES, VERY TRUE – WE BELIEVE YOU HAVE TO ‘GLOBALISE THE GOOD STUFF’ -
- Your journeys, your meetings, your marriage, Lola Mae's birth? Are you worried or hopeful for the future of the world?
BOTH
- Something more to say?
WE NEED TO REMEMBER HOW LUCKY WE ARE AND HOW SHORT LIFE CAN BE
